- I agree. While we all don't like to see our beloved technology bought
- and sold so quickly, it is foolish to think this is a bad thing. In
- fact, by having the company's HQ here in North America, it will help.
- VIS Corp. has a vested interest in ensuring that the Amiga's name is well
- publicized. This in turn means that they need to continue development,
- which in turn pushes them to get more people signed up to the cause...
- Escom in reality had some competing interests (although most big
- companies do, so this wasn't necessarily bad...), for one - they have
- always been in the PC market. But increasing Amiga market share
- decreases PC share. Hmmm... If you wanted to focus on your product line
- after taking a loss, what would you do? Sell the non-focus area for a
- profit (and a it was a hell of one for such a short time).
-
- Likewise, VIS Corp. (the VIS is capitalized isn't it?) probably would
- love to capitilize on the Amiga's name recognition in Europe as a way to
- get their set-top boxes in those markets...
-
- Looks like a win-win scenario to me if they they play it right...
-
- And what's that? Was it that Boos guy over to the side again screaming
- for Java integration on the Amiga? Oh never mind his rants...
