  35. I agree.  While we all don't like to see our beloved technology bought 
  36. and sold so quickly, it is foolish to think this is a bad thing.  In 
  37. fact, by having the company's HQ here in North America, it will help.  
  38. VIS Corp. has a vested interest in ensuring that the Amiga's name is well 
  39. publicized.  This in turn means that they need to continue development, 
  40. which in turn pushes them to get more people signed up to the cause...  
  41. Escom in reality had some competing interests (although most big 
  42. companies do, so this wasn't necessarily bad...), for one - they have 
  43. always been in the PC market.  But increasing Amiga market share 
  44. decreases PC share.  Hmmm...  If you wanted to focus on your product line 
  45. after taking a loss, what would you do?  Sell the non-focus area for a 
  46. profit (and a it was a hell of one for such a short time).

  48. Likewise, VIS Corp. (the VIS is capitalized isn't it?) probably would 
  49. love to capitilize on the Amiga's name recognition in Europe as a way to 
  50. get their set-top boxes in those markets...
